Krishi Vigyan Kendra's of South and West Sikkim jointly organized Scientific advisory Committee (SAC) meeting at SIRD, karfectar.Chief
guest of the function was shri S.K.Sinha,Principal Director,FS$ADD.The SAC meet was attended by shri Khorlo Bhutia,Director,FS$ADD,ex-officio chairman of the
committee and the State Nodal Officer for KVK and other members of the SAC viz. representative from ICAR research complex,Tadong,Spices board,NABARD,SIRD,all heads
of agriculture,horticulture,animal husbandry departments of South and West district,farmers representatives and member secretary of the committee shri N.T.Bhutia
,programme Coordinator,KVK West and smt.S.L.Dorjee,Programme Coordinator,KVK South Sikkim.The programme started with welcome address by smt.S.L.dorjee,she appraised
about the functioning of the KVK and its role in technology assessment,refinement and dissemination.Annual report and action plan of KVK West and South Sikkim was presented by Dr. Laxuman Sharma
and shri I.P.Shivakoti respectively.On interaction of all the members,various technologies were suggested to incorporate in future action plan.Major suggested technologies were organic pests
and diseases management,soil health management, method of enrichment o composts and refinement on the production technology of crops and livestocks.
In a concluding remarks,chairman of SAC
shri Khorlo bhutia suggested KVK for undertaking assessment of technologies that are suitable for organic agriculture and are low cost which can be easily affordable by the poor farmers of Sikkim.
Shri S.K.Sinha,chief guest appreciated the performance of Krishi Vigyan Kendra for disseminating the technologies to the farmers in the district.He emphasized on convergence of the programme
of ATMA and KVK which is to be supported by line department like agriculture,horticulture and animal husbandry.
